washington. the helicopter took off just a few minutes ago for the medevac. again, we don't know why the patient was transferred. we can tell you washington hospital center does have a burn center. the patient appeared to be alert and conscious when he was medevaced. montgomery county fire and rescue units were called to congressional country club just before 3:00 for a report of a person struck by lightning. fire officials tell us that the first responders arrived and found a 42-year-old man struck by lightning on the golf course. we understand that this man may have been trying to leave the golf course and get inside a shelter in advance of the coming storm. he was taken here to suburban hospital by ambulance and officials will not tell us his condition at this point. there was a response of no comb from the folks at congressional country club. but what we can tell you is that the patient was transferred from suburban hospital to washington hospital center's med star you don't know tonight nort

and tornado warnings in effect in the washington area. let's get right to bob in the storm center for the latest. >> right now that warning remains in effect until 6:00 for you folks in the fredericksburg area. you can see how fast these storms are coming. so even though they had some rotation we had no reports of any towards. nonetheless they are moving through past enough to even though they come through with some showers and lightning to cause damage and this one you can see especially showing -- see that. a type of a bow echo indicating there could be damaging winds as this is moving towards the northeast at about 30 to 35 miles an hour. there are some of the places in the path of that and i will -- decrease it so you can see every -- all of the smaller spots. moved just about through fredericksburg now. here are some of the other smaller towns in the damage path and possibly over to nanjemoy. warnings could be extended for you folks into char county. from here, these storms are going to continue to move rapidly towards the northeast.

we had a summer with only 1190-degree days in washington. the average is now way up there into the high 30s. and it was as recent as 2004. only 11. last year, last year, we had 29 90-degree days. it could be one of those summe with only three, i doubt it. 80 degrees now. we are not going to be seeing 90 tomorrow. that's for sure. they would love to be seeing 80 in new england. the temperatures in the 60s. right now 63 degrees in worcester. and they would like to -- settle for 90 in dallas. 100 degrees right now in dallas. look at how dry the air is. all over the east and again when we get dew points into the 50s and even 40s and it is super dry. there is the spin in the atmosphere to the north but for us it is high pressure and that has been bringing all of that wonderful, wonderful dry air. but there's still a lot of leftover showers. concord, new hampshire, right now, it is raining, raining hard. 67 degrees. while around us, nothing going on. look at that spin and look at the area of rain in new england. they will be continuing to see left
